I spent half a day with these 7th graders in California last month at the Rockwell Automation Fair. We had fun playing with robots, told jokes over lunch and my favorite part: we discussed the future of STEM! Yes... I participated in an in depth discussion on how to make the United States a leader in STEM again with 11 year olds... and they led the conversation! These are not your average 7th graders... or are they? I found out that they were normal kids with two key advantages. 1) They are part of a FIRST LEGO League team. 2) They know their preferred learning style!
